Vault is a community tent that combines beauty of Arabic vaults with Buckminster Fuller's geodesic dome strength and Sunbrella fabric patterns.
Submitted for Future Shade competition 2016.

We usually focus on providing individual shelters for refugees. Whether tents of caravans they provide basic protection from the weather and a place for a family. We shouldn’t forget that spiritual needs of individual and community are as vital as food and water. Refugees suffer from war trauma and great amount of stress. Their morale is low. Their social networks are torn apart and need to be repaired. They need spaces to heal their soul and community.

Vault is an investigation into building a beautiful and functional communal tent.
Its form is inspired by complex shapes and geometric patterns of vaults in the Middle East mosques. The structure is based on a geodesic dome, a lightweight and strong geometry developed by Buckminster Fuller. It elevates a tent to a another esthetic level, making it an appropriate space for events that require special atmosphere and focus, like holy for ceremonies and celebration, formal meetings and other.
