Along building practice, which operates on non-living results of natural processes: dead trunks of trees, fossilized microorganisms in form of limestone, rotten plant fragments in tar and so on, there are some practices like, arborborsculpture, or even selective breeding and GMO, that deal with form of live organisms. The most exciting possibility is to directly manipulate the blueprint of living form, DNA genome. Mastering it would enable us to truly grow architecture, not only of a desired shape but equipped with installation like water transport, sewage and garbage disposal, natural HVAC etc. Baobab tree as a building is an example of growing architecture. Inspired by a novel "W pustyni i w puszczy" by Henryk Sienkiewicz. There already exist baobab bar and baobab prison.
